Put Your Kitchen on Stage!

Staging the Most Important Room of the House!

We all know that the kitchen is the home’s main focal point. When it comes to showing your home for sale, potential buyers will look very closely at the kitchen picturing themselves and their family and friends gathering there, as well as celebrating important milestones, and hanging out daily.  Check out these essential tips for putting your kitchen’s best foot forward and making it sparkle!

Ruthlessly Declutter the Countertops

So the first step in staging your kitchen is to give it a deep decluttering. That means everything on your countertops must go. Start by removing stacks of paperwork and organizing bills, mail and personal cards.

Now it’s time to put away the items you don’t recognize as clutter but are nevertheless making your kitchen look tiny: the coffee maker, toaster, paper towel holder, knife block, and blender are all things that don’t need to be on display.

Depersonalize Your Fridge and Kitchen Walls

Next, you’ll want to take a look at your refrigerator doors and walls. Are they covered with family photos or items that are very specific to your individual taste, such as religious sayings, sports memorabilia, beer openers or a calendar featuring pictures of your dog? All of that needs to go to make space for buyers’ imagination.

Put all of your fridge photos and magnets in a gallon-size storage bag and store it away in a drawer for safekeeping. Take down and store all of your kid’s art, monogrammed towels and wall hangings.

Give Every Surface in the Kitchen a Scrub Down

Next, you need to deep clean your kitchen ‘til it shines. Be sure to wipe down the outside of cabinets and the countertops, Wipe down the fridge inside and out and remove any grime that’s built up. Scrub the sink and be sure to remove any hard water stains using a rag soaked in white vinegar for any tough spots.

Get rid of burnt food stains on the stove with a scrubbing pad. If you have a ceiling fan, dust the blades. Then, mop the floors.

Organize Your Pantry and Shelves

It’s not easy to keep your kitchen ready for showings when you’re still living in the home, but it’s a must. Organize your products, tools, utensils, and dishware by color and style to create a cohesive look inside your pantries, drawers, and cabinets. Also, baskets keep like things together and keep small things organized. Be sure the fridge is sparkling clean and arrange it in a similar, organized fashion.

Add Some Finishing Touches

Now, this is a tough one. Without cluttering up the space that you just “de-cluttered,” add in a few touches to make it feel fresh and bright. A pretty bowl with seasonal fruit or greenery, or a vase of flowers will do the trick.
