Turn the Outdoors Into Your Gym

It is easy to maintain an active lifestyle outdoors when you live in the beautiful Palm Beaches! Luckily, our breathtaking beaches and crystal-clear waters double as a scenic gym. What better way to fulfill your News Year’s Resolution than by paddling, swimming, or running outside? Below are some of our favorite ways to turn Palm Beach into your personal gym. Don’t forget the sunscreen!

  1. Kayak or Paddle Board Peanut Island

Peanut Island was voted one of the top ten snorkeling spots in Florida, but it is also a great spot for kayakers and paddleboarders. The island is just a short paddle away from the Riviera Beach Marina, and offers campgrounds, picnic spots, a brick footpath circling the island, bathroom facilities, and, of course, a snorkeling lagoon. Who knew exploring the Lake Worth Inlet could condition your core and increase aerobic capacity and weight loss?

  1. Snorkel Blue Heron Bridge

Thanks to its proximity to the Gulf Stream, the Blue Heron Bridge has some of the best year-round snorkeling in the world, with warm temperatures even in January. Snorkeling is a great way to experience the underwater beauty of Phil Foster Park, including exotic sea creatures, boat wrecks, and statues, and is also a low-impact workout.

  1. Bike the Palm Beaches

The best way to experience Palm Beach is by bicycle! It provides a convenient, healthy way to get around town while running errands, sightseeing, or getting fresh air. There is a plethora of bicycle paths along lush landscaping, beautiful neighborhoods, and the Intracoastal Waterway. Locals can even rent SkyBikes and purchase monthly memberships for unlimited biking from any station in downtown West Palm Beach.

  1. Head to the Dog Beach

You and your pup can walk, run, or play fetch along the 2.5 mile stretch of dog-friendly beach in Jupiter. Activities on sand targets lower body muscles three times better, giving you a more strenuous workout than running on pavement.

  1. Hiking Riverbend Park

This 680-acre park is an ideal hiking location to experience the native flora and fauna, including armadillos, white-tailed deer, and wild turkeys. Riverbend features approximately ten miles of interconnecting trails that are suitable for any skill and fitness level. The trails can even be hiked in varying combinations according to a hiker’s ability; the longest circuit route is an estimated 4.5 miles.
